 "Unwanted pregnancies could be avoided if only people are less selfish, are more disciplined and capable of self control, exercising a strong will, and capable of making sacrifices. These are virtues that are much needed in a country of disciplined people."

Those were the words from Cardinal Gaudencio Rosales last September 15 in response to the unending reports of fetuses found on almost every part of the country.

The Philippines is one of the many countries to prohibit and punish abortion and without any clear legal exception like if the pregnancy is caused by rape or if it poses a risk to the life of the mother. And becuase of this, almost 500,000 Filipino women turn to illegal abortion every year.

According to an international news agency, cases of abortion in the country is almost twice as high compared to Western Europe where abortion is legal.

There are a lot of abortion methods being used in the country, one of the most famous is the use of the Cytotec a pill that is inserted in the vagina and being swallowed to cause contraction of the uterine wall. Some of the other methods are intense massage, the use of catheter and drinking of some herbs and mixtures sold at the sidewalks. This methods most of the times cause complications which can lead to death of the women.

The government should make a clear stand regarding abortion. It's time to break the silence and act to help save the lives of innocent angels whose breath was taken away even before having a glimpse of the world.

Anti-Dengue Bracelet

Dengue cases here in the Philippines has been continuing to rise at an alarming level. Health officials say that there has been almost 90 percent increase of dengue cases from last year.

From January to mid-August alone, there has been 63,000 cases of Dengue reported and and at least 465 died.

Dengue is endemic in many Southeast Asian countries especially in the Philippines, that's why many people has been looking for alternatives to prevent acquiring the deadly disease.

That is why recently, there has been so many inquiries regarding a new product called the Anti-Dengue Bracelet. Many people think that this bracelet is the cure for the disease but it is really not.

What's the effect of the bracelet? This bracelet primarily wards off the mosquito. It acts like a repellent. It prevents the mosquito from approaching by wearing it on your wrist or ankle. It will emit an aroma that the insect won't be able to stand. Based on claims, the product is safe event for children since it is made of non toxic products.

The bracelet is really a promising device, but it's better to check it first before letting your love ones use it.

And aside from using repelling devices, it will be better if we clean our surroundings and destroy the breeding sites of the mosquitoes.

What To Do After Passing The Nursing Board Exam

Do you know what to do right after you see your name on the newspapers or at the PRC website that you passed the Nursing Board Exam? Well, let me give you some few advices on the things you should accomplish right after passing the boards.

1. First, you have to verify your grade

- You need to get a certificate of passing and a certificate of rating at the PRC office. You can use this for employment purposes. You have to bring your NOA and a valid ID with you. Secure a request form and submit it to your designated window at the PRC. Then head to get your oath form.

2. Oath taking and PNA registration

- you have to pay for your ticket and another one for the guest and there will also be a PNA membership fee

3. Registration for PRC License

- You will be given a designated date for registration and it will be in an alphabetical order. You have to secure an Oath Form and have it notarized. You will also be paying 1,050 pesos for the registration. You need to have  a Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 passport size picture with name tag, One 1x1 picture in white background, a metered documentary stamp and the accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal.

MMDA Re-implements Anti-Littering Law

Starting September 16, Manileños have to think twice if they're going to throw garbage at public places because violators of the anti-littering law will have to pay 500.00 to 1,000.00 or render community service if they are not able to pay within three days.


The law was suspended in 2003 and now MMDA is going to show the public that they will not tolerate the rampant disgust to the environment.


The Anti-Littering Law, amended by MMDA Regulation Number 99-006, prohibits littering, dumping, and throwing of garbage or any kind of waste in open or public places.


Under the law, violators are issued an EVR (Environmental Violation Receipt ), with corresponding fines ranging from P500 to P1,000 and community service for those who cannot afford to pay the administrative fines,


According to MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino, they are going around the LGUs and conduct information and education campaign for public awareness before they start their actual apprehension.


This will be the start of a new beginning for the Aquino administration. A new standard will be set.

Release of July 2010 Nursing Board Exam Result

Everyone is so excited as the last week of August is almost here. It was due to the memorandum set by the Board of Nursing to release the result of the board examination on the last week of August. 

Approximately 90,000 future nurses took the board exam last July 3 & 4 and the passing rate is expected to be more than 30 percent.

DECEMBER 2010 NURSING BOARD EXAMINATION

In accordance with Board of Nursing Resolution No. 2010-17 of July 27, 2010.

The NURSE LICENSURE EXAMINATION for December 2010 has been “re-scheduled” from December 12 and 13 to December 19 & 20, 2010.

The NEW DEADLINE FOR FILING OF REPEATERS is now from Sept. 8 – 29, 2010. Regular examinees will follow same schedule as set by PRC and is now on-going.

RE-SCHEDULING THE DECEMBER, 2010 NURSES LICENSURE EXAMINATION FROM DECEMBER 12 & 13, 2010 TO DECEMBER 19 & 20, 2010 AND PROVIDING FOR A NEW DEADLINE OF FILING OF APPLICATIONS FOR REPEATER APPLICANTS FROM SEPTEMBER 8, 2010 TO SEPTEMBER 28, 2010

WHEREAS, in the exercise of its powers under Section 7 (d) of R.A. No. 8981, the Commission issued Resolution No. 2009-537, series of 2009 which fixed the dates and designated the places for holding the various licensure examinations of the Professional Regulatory Boards for Calendar Year 2010. The said Resolution also set the dates of the Second Phase of the Nurses Licensure Examination on December 12 & 13, 2010 (Sunday-Monday) and the deadline of filing of applications of repeater applicants on September 8, 2010;

WHEREAS, the second day of the December, 2010 Nurses Licensure Examination will fall on Monday, December 13, 2010 which happens to be a school day;

WHEREAS, since the Commission makes use of public and private schools as examination venues, there will be no available schools that can be used on the second day of the December, 2010 Licensure Examination;

WHEREAS, the Regional Director of PRC Baguio Regional Office has expressed his concern about the non-availability of schools to be used as examination venues if the licensure examination will push through on December 12 & 13, 2010;

WHEREAS, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has issued CMO No. 44, s. 2009 setting the start of the Christmas vacation on December 20, 2010;

WHEREAS, the Department of Education (DEPED) has likewise issued DepEd Order No. 26, s. 2010 setting the start of the Christmas vacation on December 18, 2010;

WHEREAS, the results of the July, 2010 Licensure Examination will be released on the last week of August, 2010 and there will be very limited time for repeater applicants to beat the deadline on September 8, 2010;

WHEREAS, there is a need to move the schedule of the December, 2010 Nurses Licensure Examination as well as the deadline of filing of applications for repeater applicants in order to have a smooth and orderly application, administration and conduct of the examination.

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board hereby resolved, as it now resolves, to reschedule the December, 2010 Nurses Licensure Examination from December 12 & 13, 2010 to DECEMBER 19 & 20, 2010 (SUNDAY-MONDAY) and to provide for a new deadline of filing of applications for repeater applicants from September 8, 2010 to SEPTEMBER 28, 2010.

Let a copy of this Resolution be furnished the Board of Nursing, Director for Licensure, Application Division, Examination Division, Rating Division, Secretariat, ICT Division, Legal Division, Supply & Property Division, Budget Division, Accounting Division, ESTF, PIMRU, all Regional Offices and all schools, colleges and universities offering the Nursing course for their information and guidance.
